Hi! I am the CEO of Spark Consultants, a 30 years old consulting organization that is Bangalore (India) based.

My name is Prakash Subbarao. I am from Bangalore.

I am a mechanical engineer from UVCE (1974 batch). I have undergone short term management training at Indian Institutes of Management Ahmadabad and Bangalore (residential executive training programs).

I joined a British MNC called Chloride India Limited in Calcutta in 1975 as a Management Trainee. My career progressed rapidly and by age 35 I was the National sales manager of a company in the billion dollar Murugappa Group in Chennai.

I have extensive, hands-on experience in marketing as well as general management in India as well as in the Middle East. In addition have picked up technical specialisation in internet areas such as “Search Engine optimization” (SEO).

I offer SEO consultancy to companies via Spark Consultants.

I took Spark Consultants to Dubai between 1998 and 2004, and was based there during that period. I am now based in Bangalore, India.

Some career highlights and future plans:

1. Have had a very fast career progression. For example, I was promoted from Regional Sales manager to All India Sales Manager in T.I. Diamond Chain Ltd. within 18 months of my joining the company because of tremendous sales growth that I got from my team; I superseded three other sales managers (two of whom were IIMs from Ahmedabad).

2. Started my own consulting company, Spark Consultants, in 1988.

3. Ran Bangalore’s first corporate bulletin board service (BBS) called SparkNet in pre-internet days with a dedicated server and a dedicated telephone line.

4. Created an HRD magazine called Techno Spark that was registered with the Registrar of Newspaper, New Delhi. It was mailed free of cost to thousands of companies all over South India, and supplied summarized résumés from A (Accountants) to B (Welders) to companies. It was something “different”. It opened very many doors for me……….from Birla 3M to TVS Suzuki and many companies in between.

5. Developed Spark Consultants into Bangalore’s largest internet services company during the period 1990 – 1998 and boasted a blue chip clientele.

6. Was invited to address the Indo-American Chamber Of Commerce, Bangalore, India in 1996 as a specialist speaker on how to use the Internet to increase business.

7. Ran a Dubai branch between 1998 and 2004.

8. Created an educational multimedia product aimed at school children for an Abu Dhabi based group.

9. Created a 450 page portal on Dubai. Sold it in 2007 to a British real estate company in Dubai for a significant amount. Spark Consultants is working on several other portals - www.1Jayanagar.com, www.1Koramangala.com etc.

10. Created The Bangalore Quiz Group in September 2004. Today it is perhaps one of the largest and most professional quiz groups in the country. It also has one of the largest quizzing databases in the world.

11. Act as the Quiz Club Coordinator for Bethany High, Koramangala, Bangalore. This gives me extensive insight into the child psychology of children from 2nd Std. to 7th Std.

12. Have conceptualized a product known as The Whiz Kid Project which will launch in early 2010. It is a product for children and young adults.

13. Spark Consultants is entering the eBooks arena with its website www.digitalakshara.com in early 2010.

14. Spark Consultants will be creating a large national jobs database starting early 2010 via its jobs portal Indian Job Network.

15. Spark Consultants specialises in Search engine optimization It is a growing field with huge demand.
